چکیده

A simple isoparametric geometry mapping is applied to incorporate irregular four-node quadrilateral elements into Modified Nodal Integral Method for the two-dimensional, time-dependent, incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The modified scheme has been applied to solve the twodimensional lid driven cavity problem with exact solution, solved over a sub-domain that necessitate non-rectangular elements for efficient coarse discretization permitted by nodal scheme. Numerical results show that accuracy of the modified nodal integral scheme can be maintained for irregular shaped cells, thus extending the efficiency and accuracy of such schemes to domains with curved boundaries.

Parallel Modified Nodal Integral Method for three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes and energy equations

A Modified Nodal Integral Method (MNIM) for three-dimensional, incompressible Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations has recently been developed. MNIM requires relatively less number of grid points for the desired accuracy. The Parallel MNIM (PMNIM) is developed in order to further enhance its capabilities. Since template of the nodal integral method is quite different from those that result from finite...

An Embedded Boundary Integral Solver for the Unsteady Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations1

We present a new method for the solution of the unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. Our goal is to achieve a robust and scalable methodology for two and three dimensional incompressible laminar flows. The Navier-Stokes operator discretization is done using boundary integrals and structured-grid finite elements. We use a two-step second-order accurate scheme to advance the equations...

The Embedded Boundary Integral Method (EBI) for the Incompressible Navier-Stokes equations

The discretization of the Navier-Stokes operator is done using boundary integrals and structured-grid finite elements. We use finite-differences to advance the equations in time. The convecti...

Formulation of a Galerkin spectral element–Fourier method for three-dimensional incompressible flows in cylindrical geometries

A primitive-variable formulation for simulation of time-dependent incompressible flows in cylindrical coordinates is developed. Spectral elements are used to discretise the meridional semi-plane, coupled with Fourier expansions in azimuth. Unlike previous formulations where special distributions of nodal points have been used in the radial direction, the current work adopts standard Gauss–Lobat...

A modified nodal integral method (MNIM) for two-dimensional, time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations is extended to three dimensions. The nodal integral method is based on local transverse integrations over finite size cells that reduce each partial differential equation to a set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Solutions of these ODEs in each cell for the transverse-averaged dependent...
